On Thursday, December 8, DAY presented “Disability Community Stories,” which featured four Yale employees sharing true, personal stories of how disability has impacted their lives. Sharing stories helps to raise awareness, foster and expand community, and normalize disabilities.

We thank the storytellers who shared their stories: Daniel Cress (DAY co-chair, Director of Marketing at the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale and the Yale Repertory Theatre), Monica Givens (Program Coordinator for Leadership Giving, Office of Development), Cindy Greenspun (Project Manager, Library Information Technology), and Debbie Stanley-McAulay (Associate Vice President of Employee Engagement and Workplace Culture; Chief Diversity Officer).

DAY and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion sponsored a storytelling workshop for the four storytellers, who wrote, revised, and rehearsed their stories over several weeks. Their powerful personal experiences resonated with the audience of approximately 80 people who attended either in person at Sterling Memorial Library or via Zoom.

Ability Media from Quinnipiac University covered the event; their video report is available on YouTube
